040125. Monday. NYC. My Favorite Image So Far.

Notes from Monday.
I have decided that I will shoot monochrome for most of April. My camera allows me to lock the images I shoot whilst in B&W, which allows for the most minimal editing possible -this is what I need. This new ‘chapter’ of developing my photos will really push me to further understand the holy triangle of light, composition and to be faster whilst I shoot.

As of today, I have a new favorite photo, which I called ‘Four Kinds of Cheese.’ No particular reason comes to mind when I think of why I love this image so much, the only thing that fills the line for a possible answer is the idea of the Grandpas I never really had. The short conversation I had with that man, felt so new yet so familiar, and every time I go to look at his frozen-in-time eyes, I feel some sort of safety and care. When I was born, one of my grandpas had already passed, and the other lived far away, I can probably use my fingers to tell you how may times I saw him before he left this world.

Unrelated but, my brother likes cars and I also took these for him:

040125. Tuesday. Roosevelt Island. Tejo.

Notes from Tuesday.
Today Martin, James and I went to a new spot in Queens where you can play TEJO. If you don’t know what tejo is, it is a traditional Colombian sport similar to ‘cornhole’. The principle is the same, however the settings are rules are so different. Truly, I could explain tejo for hours, however I am too tired to write, so if you are inteested, please watch this video to see why this is one of Colombia’s most popular sports.

040225. Wednesday. NYC. Aeden & Augie.

Notes from Wednesday.
I felt like a private documentarian today. The only pictures I took today are mostly of Aeden and Augie’s creative process, which like I said, made me feel like their very own William Claxton.

040325. Thursday. NYC. More of A&a.

Notes from Thursday.
– Coincidentally saw Aeden and Augie again, which once again made me feel like a documentarian.
– Hill Country has the best TEX MEX Barbeque.

040425. Friday. NYC/Queens. The Mets.

Notes from Friday.
The METS first home game was an Incredible experience, it made me feel the same kind of community embrace I’d feel when any sport season began back in Colombia.
The last image I happened to take walking around after the game had ended.

040525. Saturday. NYC. Rainy Midtown.

Notes from Saturday.
No notes from Satuday.

040525. Sunday. Montauk & NY Haomptons.

Notes from Sunday.
All I’d like to do with this entry is to thank my friend Vanina and her mother for taking the time to show me around, as well as to have me as a guest of their beautiful home.
