My friend Annabelle usually says “I want to be horizontal” whenever she feels exhausted. Today, just like her, I found myself to be beyond tired. After wining for a good hour, I am now fully committed to the idea that being horizontal fits the concept of exhaustion much better than saying “I want to sleep”, “I need a nap/break”, etc. I say this because at tiredness point of no return (which Annabelle and I both constantly reach) even sleeping or resting feels like doing something.
As someone who needs to illustrate everything, I couldn’t help but to send her I sent her this:
“How I am: |
How I want to be: _ “
Once this text was sent, I had the urge to start playing with these characters and had to sit down in a Cafe to start my iterations. Here are my favorite ones tied together via a short story.
As I said, i think being horizontal is the best representation of a tired being, just look how inactive this line looks.

Now, let’s see what would happen if it were sleeping.
