My friend Jack invited me to join him for a Drink and Draw night somewhere in Williamsburg. I had never been to anything like this before, so when I arrived and saw that we would be drawing a live model, I felt a wave of nerves settle in.

The last time I had done something like this, I was still a freshman in college. Back then, we had figure drawing sessions every Tuesday and Thursday under the guidance of Professor G. Levant. Nights like this make me deeply grateful for educators like her. As I tried to get comfortable with drawing again, my mind filled with the repetitive notes and quiet corrections she used to bombard me with, and they were the confidence boost I needed. I dare say, the surprising quality of my sketches tonight stands as a testament to her incredible labor as a caring teacher.

Thank you Ginger!

And thank you Violet for letting us draw you!
